◊ Federal Pell Grants
This is a “grant” from the Federal Government that does not need to be repaid. Eligibility for this grant is determined by the student’s “financial need.”
◊ Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG)
Another type of grant that does not need to be repaid. The amount of this grant is also determined by the student’s “financial need.”
◊ Direct Loans, Perkins or FFEL Loans
Loans are made available to students. Some loans are administered directly by the United States Department of Education. All loans need to be repaid after graduation. There are also a variety of grace periods depending on loan type.
◊ Tuition Payments to the College or Private Educational Loans
Payments made directly to the College are interest free. Loans made through a private financing company carry a very low interest rate. Having good or bad credit will not affect your eligibility for this type of loans or payment arrangement.
